TOP 5 Worst Directors

There are directors who shouldn’t make movies at all. When a director is constantly butchering the art of film, I think it’s time to call it quits. Don’t you think?

5. M. Night Shyamalam

Worst movies: The Village, The Happening, The Last Airbender

M. Night was decent before he decided to make the trees killers. (That was actually one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.) Despite of directing one of my favorite movies of all times (Signs) he sadly decided to butcher one of the most admiring TV series in the world. The Last Airbender should have never been made.

4. Joel Schumacher

Worst movies: Nipples, Bad Company, The Phantom of the Opera

Batman, batman….nuff said.

But, I do have to hand it over to Schumacher on his horrible take of Batman because without it, The Dark Knight Trilogy wouldn’t be upon us.

3. Brett Ratner

Worst movies: Skyline, Rush Hour, X-Men: The Last Stand, The Family Man

Ratner is lazy in his film work; there is no art, inspirational attributes, techniques. Did I mention Lazy?

2. Michael Bay

Worst movies: Transformers, Armageddon, Bad boys II, Pearl Harbor

“Oh Gosh,” that’s what I say to myself every time I hear a movie connected to Michael Bay. He ruined Transformers.  I couldn’t even distinguish between Even Stevens from Sam Witwicky. The only thing Bay gets right is ruining movies for fans.

1. Uwe Boll

Worst movies: House of the Dead, BloodRayne, In the Name of the King, Far Cry, Rampage

I guess no one can stop this guy from making movies. Even petitions were made so that he can retire, but nope he still makes movies oh and ruins beloved video games.

  1. Don’t be too hard on M. Night. Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs are cinematic gifts. The man was a great director once, and unlike certain other filmmakers he deserves some respect. Quite frankly, I am baffled by the quality of his more recent films. Even the greatest director in the world can make a bad film, or even two, but M. Night’s travesties just keep coming, and they keep getting worse and worse. I find it inexplicable; there must be more to this story than a director overcome by hubris. I suspect that M. Night has personal problems we don’t know about.

    • I agree but I wasn’t judging Night for his previous work, as I stated on the list my favorite movie is Signs. I would even go as far to say that his recent work are unforgivable, especially The Last Airbender. Newsweek called him the next Spielberg a couple of years ago and I think that’s when he got cocky.

  2. Great as M. Night used to be, there is no universe in which he was ever going to be the next Speilberg. If he believed the hype, it’s a shame.
The Transformers movies are amongst the worst movies I have ever seen, ever. They are a failure from every possible angle except the one that matters in Hollywood: $$$. Bay has my vote as the worst director that ever lived. He’s worse than Ed Wood, because at least Wood’s films had heart and a personal touch.
The difference between Bay and M. Night is that I still hold out hope that M. Night will make another great film. How do you forget how to make a movie in just a decade? It’s not just that the man did not fulfill his early promise. It’s that every single film he releases now is one of the worst ever made. It genuinely puzzles me, and I’m willing to give the guy a break until I’ve figured it out.
But I hear what you are saying, and if I were the head of a major studio I would stop giving him money, because enough is enough.

    • Bad directors now-a-days think their big shots that they don’t back down. Look at Uwe, the only reason he makes movies is because he funds his own. But really it’s the viewers fault who have no clue how to distinguish a bad film from a good one. If only they just gave up.(Transformers, I wish I bad never seen those movies.)

    • I wouldn’t say Verbinski is an auteur but he’s not bad. I like his approach in The Pirates of the Caribbean and Rango but I do think he lacks originality.
